DIY Paper Flower Candle Centerpiece

This week we were so inspired by the floral beauty of spring and the romance of wedding season that we brought those two delights together for a blog post. In celebration of new life and new beginnings, we made a gorgeous candle craft: a DIY Paper Flower LED Candle Centerpiece.

One of the biggest perks of using Candle Impressions LED candles is the ability to decorate them with virtually any material, including flammable paper. In this DIY tutorial we contrast the rich and smooth texture of our real wax LED flameless candles with soft paper flowers and the alluring lustre of white pearls. The results are a gorgeous centerpiece, suitable for weddings, bridal showers, engagement parties and feminine spring decor.

Winter Snow Mason Jars

A little sparkle and glow is just what your holiday decor needs. These DIY Winter Snow Mason Jars are easy to make and have a subtle rustic Scandinavian look to them.

All you need is:

• Mirage LED votive 
• Mason jar
• White glue paste
• Kosher salt
• White and silver glitter
• A faux evergreen sprig or other finishing detail 

1.  Evenly paint a layer of glue on the inside of your mason jar

2.  Mix together the sprinkles and salt (we used a baggie for easy dumping

3.  Dump the sprinkles into the jar & shake

4.  Paint icicles on the exterior of the jar with glue

5.  Sprinkle the glue with glitter

6.  Let dry (inside and out--about 1.5 hrs)

7.  Blow away excess sparkles on the exterior and dump out excess glitter and salt on the inside

We love the idea of making 3 and lining them down the table for a cute centerpiece. They look great on their own too and can really fit with any decor theme.

Rosemary & Berry Christmas Hurricane

Decorating for the holidays is fun, but not everyone has the storage or budget for specialty Christmas items. This DIY Rosemary & Berry Christmas Hurricane can be made with household items, including Candle Impressions LED pillars, and a quick-trip to the grocery store. 

Supplies:

• 1 Candle Impressions or Mirage LED candle (available at Target) 
• 1 large hurricane
• 1 small hurricane that fits within the large hurricane, while also being large enough to hold the 3" diameter flameless candle 
• Rosemary 
• Winter berries (cranberries, holly, etc.) 
• Small stones (or something of equivalent weight)
• Tap water 

The directions are easy and in total the project should take less than 5 minutes. All you have to do is:

1. Add some rocks to the bottom of the small hurricane to create some weight 
2. Set the timer on your LED candle to the desired hour and place it inside of the small hurricane, on top of the bed of rocks 
3. Place that small hurricane & candle inside of your larger hurricane
4. Slide rosemary between the glass of the two hurricanes into an even arrangement
5. Add water to the space between the hurricanes (note: if the inner hurricane becomes buoyant, add more rocks)
6. Drop a handful of berries into the water and you're done!

We added some more Mirage flameless candles, pine cones and dollar store garland to complete the look, but it's completely optional.

DIY Glowing Christmas Snowballs

Light up your Christmas display or dinner table with snowballs that sparkle during the day and glow at night. This DIY project is easy and yields store-quality results! 

Supplies:

• 4 Candle Impressions tea lights (available on Amazon)
• 4 styrofoam balls (ensure they're at least a 3" diameter) 
• White, liquid glue
• White and silver glitter 
• Coarse, white salt (we used Kosher salt)

Steps:

1. Trace the circumference of your tea light onto the styrofoam ball
2. Core the ball as deep as you can, without breaking through to the other side
3. Hollow out the ball as evenly and thinly as possible (like hallowing out a pumpkin)
4. Pop your tea light into the hole so the base is flush to the ball (it should be snug)
5.  Mix your salt and glitter together for your desired color and sparkle; dump it evenly onto a disposable plate or other flat surface
6. Coat the styrofoam balls evenly with the white glue
7. Roll the glue-coated balls in your salt-glitter mixture & let dry (1 - 2 hrs)

The final product is beautiful! You can stack them into a pile, combine them all in a large vase or just scatter randomly as we did here. 

Pair it them with some Christmas decor and faux snow for the perfect winter look.

Autumn Leaf Mason Jar Candle Holder

Mod podge leaf mason jar candle holders have been such a hit on Pinterest, we decided to make our own for our flameless community.

All you need is:

- Synthetic leaves
- Mod podge OR 1:1 tacky glue & water
- Bowl
- Mason jar
- Mirage or Candle Impressions LED votive candle

The rest is easy: just soak the leaves in your mod podge or glue mixture and place them on the inside of your mason jar. If they aren't sticking, add more glue to your mixture. Let the jar dry, add your LED candle and enjoy the warm autumn light that's cast through the leaves

              

Mirage Cinnamon Stick Wrap

Materials:

• Cinnamon sticks
• Twine
• Scotch tape
• Mirage LED votives (find a retailer near you here)

Instructions:

• Lay a 14" piece of twine down on a flat surface
• Lay the cinnamon sticks down on top of the twine 
• Fasten the sticks together with a strip of Scotch tape
• Roll the votive and fasten the twine with a bow 

Turn on the 5-hour timer and experience the same festive, fall light every night! Best of all, your home will smell amazing. 

Tissue Paper LED Flowers

Cheap and cheerful, this DIY project is a spring-twist on our popular hurricane and tea light flameless candles. These tissue paper flowers, a popular craft on Pinterest, look even more adorable with our flameless candle centers. 

The candlelight perfectly illuminates their soft, translucent petals and creates a whimsical ambiance perfect for summer BBQ decor or using as place card holders. Since they're flameless, they also make great and safe nightlights for girls 10+ who are too embarrassed to use a plug-in light. 

These are very easy to make: 

1. Cut your petals and leaves out (as seen above) so they are all connected in the center. 
2. Layer the leaves and petals in a desirable way (try to make it look like a real flower, with no awkward gaps).
3. Place the candle in the center and fasten clear, scotch tape in a ring around the base. This will hold all of the leaves and petals together in order to create the holder and make them angle upwards.

Wax Paper Luminaries

Tulips are a classic spring flower. But, just like spring, their beauty fades fast. 

Here is a creative way make your wilting tulips last a little longer with Wax Paper Luminaries. 

For this project, you will need:

• Four cut tulips 
• Wax paper
• A thin tea towel 
• Iron 
• Ironing board
• Scissors
• Scotch tape 
• 2 pieces of thick, card-stock paper (in a light color) 

All you have to do is:

1. Place a design on a sheet of wax paper; 

2. Place another sheet on top of the design; 

3. Lay a tea towel on top of your design & iron on "medium" (start at low if you are nervous);

4. Continue ironing until the flower is completely flat and the wax paper sticks together where the petals and stem are.

5. Trim all 4 sides into a perfect rectangle or square (use same dimensions moving forward);

6. Seal the edges with scotch tape; 

Repeat 3 more times (if you want to create 2 luminaries).

To construct the luminaries, take two flower sheets and cut 2 sides form your card-stock paper the appropriate height. Tape all four sides together so the luminary can stand. 

All that's left to do is add your Candle Impressions LED flameless candle to light them!

Easy Easter DIY LED Candles

Having company for Easter weekend? It can hard to balance cleaning, cooking, baking, and decorating. Here is an easy way to create a cute Easter look in your home without having to go to the store.

All you need is:

• A Candle Impressions LED pillar (if you don't have one, you can find a retailer here)
• Pastel wrapping paper (if you have Easter themed paper, that's even better!)
• Scissors 
• Tape

You probably know where we're going with this, but you simply wrap the candle and tape it: that's it! When Easter is over, all you have to do is take the wrapping paper off.

It's that easy.

DIY Valentine's Day Mason Jars

Happy Valentine's Day, CI lovers!

This year we've decided to jump on a big trend: Valentine's Day mason jar crafts. But ours are rustic vases that work as candle holders... at the same time.

How? Our floating LED candles!

To make them, all you need to do is:

1. Clean a plain mason jar: ensure all oil residues are removed.
2. Cut-out hearts from paint tape and stick them onto the jar where you would like a window.
3. Paint with acrylic paint (we used dollar store paint).
4. Spray with Krylon Matte Finish spray (this will help protect the paint from water and give it a dull appearance for that shabby-chic look we all love).
5. Add water, your floating LED Candle Impressions tea light, flowers, and you're done!

See the floating LED tea light in the striped mason jar? It's a very cute and subtle detail that looks great at night. 

3 DIY Ornaments with Candle Impressions

Those clear, plastic Christmas bulbs you see at nearly every dollar and craft store ARE good for something. Candle Impressions has discovered it's incredibly easy to slice these $1 bulbs with a utility knife, leaving you with endless crafting opportunities for your flameless LED candles.

All you need is:

• Small Candle Impressions Flameless Candles, like our 0.75" votives from World Market
• Other small winter-themed objects, like fake snow, Christmas trees, or plastic Reindeer 
• Plain, clear plastic Christmas bulbs (the thinner the plastic, the better)

Spider Web Candle Sleeve

Make a spider web wire sleeve for some or all of your flameless candles this fall. It's a simple look, but goes a long way and really stands out against the cream wax of Candle Impressions

Making one is easy (see to the left), but we'll be honest: it's a bit frustrating. The key is finding black wire that's thick enough to stand on its own, yet thin enough to easily bend. In hindsight we should have used thinner wire, but preferred the look of the thicker diameter. 

To begin, just make 2 circles: one to rest as a halo above the candle and one below. Be sure to make the circles wide enough so your candle isn't scratched when removed from the sleeve. Then connect the two on opposite sides with a wire at least 2" longer than your candle height; remember you'll need extra length for fastening the wire to the circles. Continue cutting and connecting wire into a spider web pattern.




All you need is:

-  Wire cutters (you probably have some in your toolbox)
-  Black wire (look in the jewelry section at craft stores)
-  A Candle Impressions Flameless Pillar in Cream or White (click here to find a retailer)

"Monster" Jar Halloween Luminaries

Turn your mason jars into "monster" jars for a totally adorable Halloween display. They may not be scary, but they'll still draw a crowd with their corky look and pleasant glow.

Besides mason jars and Candle Impressions Flameless Candles (find a retailer here), you will also need:

• Acrylic paint (do not get glossy or any special finish - we just used the cheapest we could find at the craft store)
• Clear aerosol sealer in matte or satin finish 
• Sand paper (optional) 
• Medical wrap (for the mummy)
• Craft supplies to accessorize (like googly eyes, pipe cleaners, pompoms, etc.)

To paint the mason jars, follow these steps:

1. Clean your mason jars (unless they are new). Rubbing alcohol will help get rid of residues. 
2. Paint the jars with the acrylic paint (would recommend 1 - 2 coats, but be careful not to use too much or the paint won't be transparent). Leave to dry.
3. Spray the jars with the sealer (1 coat). Leave to try.

Halloween Candle Orbs

Not only are these Halloween Candle Orbs easy to decorate with, but super easy to make yourself. All you need is:

• "Orb-like" candle holders (small fish bowls also work!)
• Black puff paint 
• Leaves, twigs, etc. for filling 
• Candle Impressions Flameless Candles (find your closest retailer here)

Place these spooky candle holders on your windowsill or front porch for a look your neighbors will love!
